Water Feature Repair in Grand Junction, Colorado

If Something is Wrong
We'll Fix It

Returning Your Water Feature to its former glory

We Fix It All

Water features fail in predictable ways.

Pumps lose flow or stop altogether. Liners develop slow leaks that are hard to trace. Lights burn out or fill with water. Skimmer baskets crack. Auto-fill valves stick open or closed. Plumbing fittings work loose after a freeze-thaw cycle.

None of it is unusual, and most of it is fixable without replacing the feature.

Compass handles repair work across the Grand Valley on all types of water features; ecosystem ponds, pondless waterfalls, fountainscapes, and features built by other contractors. If it has a pump, a liner, or a pipe, we can work on it.

What we attend to

Our Most Common Water Feature Issue Callouts

Leaks

Water loss beyond normal evaporation usually points to a liner issue, a plumbing fitting, or water escaping over the edge of a waterfall. Finding the source is the first job, and it requires a methodical approach rather than guesswork. We locate the leak before recommending a fix.

Pump failure

Pumps are the most commonly replaced component in any water feature. We carry common Aquascape pump models and can advise on direct replacements or upgrades if your current pump is undersized or outdated.

Broken Lighting

Underwater and accent lights take a beating in Colorado's climate. We replace burnt-out bulbs, failed fixtures, and damaged cables, and can upgrade older halogen setups to LED at the same time.

Filtration problems

A biological filter that isn't performing shows up as green water, algae overgrowth, or fish stress. We assess the filter media, check flow rates, and diagnose whether it's a maintenance issue or a system sizing problem.

Freeze damage

Grand Junction winters can crack fittings, split pipes, and damage pump seals if a feature wasn't winterized properly. Spring is the most common time we see this; we assess the damage and repair or replace what's needed before the season starts.

Plumbing and fittings

Loose connections, failing check valves, and cracked pipe sections are common in older features. We repair in place where possible and replace when not.

Efficient, EAsy Repairs

How It Works

Call or contact us to describe what you're seeing; water loss, reduced flow, a light that's stopped working, or anything else that's changed.

Based on that conversation we'll give you an initial sense of what might be involved and schedule a site visit. We assess on-site, explain what we find, and quote the repair before starting any work. No surprises.

We service features we didn't build. If you bought a property with an existing water feature, or had it installed by someone else, we'll still take a look.

About Compass

We Know Water Features

Compass is a certified Aquascape contractor: vetted and trained by the same organization that sets the standard for ecosystem pond installation across North America. Aquascape's certification program requires demonstrated quality of work, ongoing education, and a track record of customer satisfaction. It's not self-awarded, and not every contractor has it.

For Grand Junction homeowners, that credential matters because the Western Slope's climate puts demands on a water feature that generic installation guidance doesn't account for. We know this environment. We build for it.  Learn More About Us→

Your Questions on Water Feature Repairs Answered

Frequently Asked Questions About Water Feature Repairs in Western Colorado

  • How do I know if my pond is leaking or just evaporating?

Grand Junction's dry summer climate means evaporation is real.

A well-running feature can lose an inch or more of water per week in peak summer. A simple test: turn off the pump and let the pond sit for 24 hours. If the water level drops with the pump off, it's a liner or plumbing leak. If it holds steady, the loss is most likely evaporation or splash from the waterfall.

  • Do you work on features you didn't install?

Yes. We work on all water features in the Grand Valley regardless of who built them, including Aquascape systems and most other configurations.

  • My pump is running but flow seems weak. Does it need replacing?

Not necessarily. Reduced flow is often a clogged intake or impeller rather than a failed pump. It's worth a check before replacing anything. If the pump does need replacing, we can source and install a compatible unit.

  • Can you repair a liner without draining the whole pond?

Sometimes, depending on where the damage is. Superficial liner repairs above the waterline can often be done without draining. Damage near the bottom or behind rock work typically requires a full drain to access properly.

  • How quickly can you get out for a repair

It depends on the time of year. Spring is our busiest period for repairs as features come back online after winter. Contact us and we'll give you an honest timeframe based on current availability.
