As a Colorado Native, Chris Murphy has always enjoyed the outdoors. From fishing to snowboarding, Colorado has something to offer every season of the year and that held true as he moved from the Front Range to the Western Slope. After a very diverse professional background Chris found himself working alongside his soon to be Mother In Law, building out her property management company. It was almost immediate he recognized a need within her company for a dependable handyman and reliable lawn maintenance provider. He started his first business, Western Slope Home & Lawn as a side hustle while he worked full time as a property manager. 

It did not take long for both Chris and his mother-in-law to recognize that his business would grow fast and require him full time, so they amicably parted ways so he could focus on building his own business. He quickly realized how much he enjoyed being outside and started his second company in 2017, Compass Landscaping, dedicated to providing beautiful renovations and installations. As owner of Compass Landscaping, Chris received both an ICPI Certificate (Interlocking Concrete Paver Institute) as well as became a Certified Aquascape Contractor. After a few years he discovered the name “Landscaping” was no longer a good depiction of the kind of projects he was turning out and rebranded the company to Compass Outdoor Living in the beginning of 2020. As the business grew, he brought on his wife Corinne as the Director of Operations to oversee the admin and office side of the business. Today Compass Outdoor Living is on the forefront of delivering luxurious outdoor spaces and water features. From ponds to pavers, they are leading the industry in creative professional design, long lasting hardscapes and natural eco system ponds and water features.
